Mt. Kilimanjaro is situated inside the Kilimanjaro National Park in Tanzania, it is the highest mountain in Africa and the tallest free-standing mountain on earth. Shrouded in clouds and rising more than 19,000 feet above the African plains stands Mount Kilimanjaro. Kilimanjaro is located 200 miles south of the equator, and its massive size, greatly influences the climate, vegetation and animal life of the region. The slopes host five climate zones. Moving from the lush rainforest, to the hot, shrubby moorlands, to the rocky alpine dessert and finally the summit.
