The title of "Pearadise Buck" was the inspiration for this piece. It is claimed by the old cowboys from south Texas that the really bigdiscount hotels in Bracke bucks live in the pear country. One of the criteria of many a deer lease is the ample supply of pear flats on the property. These majestic animals love the "pear flats" of this area and are often seen alone grazing on these delicacies especially during severe drought conditions, that often occur in the region. In addition to this magnificent buck the artist has incorporated into the sculpture a "Horned Toad." A species that is headed for the endangered species list. It is placed under the base of the cactus near the edge of the piece. It is subtly portrayed among the pears that have fallen from the cactus and is easily missed by the casual observer. |
