2. How do I redirect visitors from my old site to my new site?

There are various ways of redirecting your visitors from your old site to your new site:
1. You can leave a message on your old site and give a link to your new site.
2. You can put meta tags that will automatically redirect your visitors from your old site to your new site.
3. You can also redirect your domain name to our server. Then your visitor will never see your old site. They can directly view your new website.

3. How come my site looks different on a different web browser?

The browsers are made by different companies and they operate a little differently. Each browser can also have various versions. While one version might support your format, other version might not – the result is your site looks different.

Our software is compatible with Netscape 6.0 or higher and Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher (today 75% of the users use these browsers). Your site will look more or less identical with these browsers and their higher versions.

Login Trouble

4. I’m having trouble logging in. What should I do?

If you are having trouble in logging in, it usually has to do with one of the two problems

1) The system doesn’t accept your user name and password

If this problem occurs, then you can e-mail your password to us.

2) The system accepts your user name and password but you are actually not logged in

This problem arises even if you are successfully logged in. But anytime you try to edit something, you are prompted again to login. These are the problems with cookies file. A cookie is a piece of information sent by a web server to the user’s computer. The browser saves this information and sends this back to the server whenever you visit our website. It is essentially used as a security measure.

To avoid this problem: (For Microsoft Internet Explorer)

  • Click on Tools
  • Click on Internet Explorer
  • Click on Delete Cookies
  • Click on OK
  • Restart your computer
  • For Netscape Navigator
  • Click on Tasks -> Privacy & Security -> Cookie Manager -> View Stored Cookies
  • Click the Advanced Category and select Cache
  • Click on Remove All Cookies button
  • Click on OK
  • Restart your computer

For other browsers, go to help, search for cookies, and delete them.

Font

5. How do I change my text font?

You can change your text easily with Copyright Statement Editor, Site Name Editor etc. Before start changing you need to know how to select the text you want to apply formatted font. To select text move the mouse cursor in front of the text you want to select. Click the left mouse button and hold the mouse button down while you move your mouse to the end of the text you want to select. Now release the mouse button. The text will be selected.

To change font –

  • click on the down arrow by Font to change the font type
  • click on the down arrow by Size to change font sizes.
  • click on B to boldface the font
  • click on I to italicize the font
  • click on U to underline the font

6. How come my font style or size won't change?

You must be facing either of these problems:

1. After selecting the text if you choose the default font style and size, then your font will not change. You have to choose some other font style and size, then you will see the changed font.

2. If you click on save while the text is selected then your changed font will not work. Therefore make sure to click elsewhere before you click on “Save” button.


7. How do I change the title of my page?

To change your page title -

  • click on Edit Page Title
  • the Page Selection window appears
  • enter the new names to change the existing page titles and the navigation menu titles according to your wish.
  • click on the OK button.

8. How come my image won’t work?

There may be various reasons:
? Your image won’t work if it is not in .jpg, .jpeg or .gif format – the web compatible image format.
? Your image won’t work if it is bigger than 640X640 pixels – the maximum size.
? Check the image file name. It should contain only alphanumeric character i.e. any letter from A-Z or a-z or digit 0-9. If it contains any other character, it won’t work.
? Try to open your image, rename it and then save it again. Sometimes image editing programs insert improper codes into an image. In that case image doesn’t work.

9. How do I add an image?

You can add images through Content Management. To add or change the current image -
? go to Content Editor page
? select the content number and click on Edit
? the Content Updation page appears
? click on the link Change Image
? the Image Manager appears, which will help you to change your images
? select images from My Gallery or Z-Gallery and Upload
? get a preview of the image
? if you don’t like it click on Delete
? if it is okay then click on OK
? the Content Updation page appears with the changed image
? click on OK
? the image is added along with the content of that web page

10. How do I resize my images?

Resizing images can only be done by changing the image cell properties through Content Management. To edit image cell properties –
? click on Edit Cell Property in the Content Updation page
? change vertical or horizontal alignment and height or width
? change background color
? click on OK
? the Content Updation window appears with the changes
? click on OK
? the changes can be viewed in your web page

11. How do I add images from the Image Library?

We provide two types of image library or gallery – My Gallery and Z-Gallery. While My Gallery allows you to choose from images stored in your local files, Z-Gallery offers you various category of images from which you can choose the relevant one for your web page.

12. How do I delete images?

Images can be deleted through content management. Go to Content Editor, click on the Delete button for specific content that contain images.

If the content page consists of both image and content text, there is no provision of deleting only the current image. If you click on Delete button, image along with content will be deleted.

13. I upload an image to my template and it won't change. How come?

That means you are viewing the cached version or memorized version of your web page. Your computer is not accepting the refreshed page from our server. You need to delete your temporary files and clear your cache.

For Microsoft Internet Explorer:

  • click on Tools
  • click on Internet Options
  • click on Delete Files (in the Temporary Internet files section)
  • click on OK
  • restart your computer

For Netscape Navigator:

  • open Edit menu
  • choose Preferences
  • double click on the Advanced category
  • select Cache
  • click on the Clear Disk button and Clear Memory Cache button
  • click on OK
  • restart your computer

14. What is the maximum size image I can add?

The maximum size can be 640x640 pixels, which is equivalent to 18 cm by 18 cm on standard resolution settings.

15. Can I change the background image of my web page?

No, right now you don’t have the provision of changing background image of your web page. However you can edit the images that have been added with content.

16. How do I create a link?

You can create links when you work with Company Slogan Editor, Copyright Statement Editor and Content Editor. There are 2 ways of creating links:

1) If you want to link your page with any other page of your website or some other website

  • type the address of the webpage
  • press Enter

It will turn into a link. Now open the page where you have placed the link, click on the link, the linked page will open.

2) Alternatively, if you like to provide link on any text

  • select the text
  • click the icon Insert or Make URL
  • a dialog box will appear
  • enter the hyperlink information – choose the type of the web address from the drop down menu Type
  • enter the complete URL of the webpage that you want to link
  • click OK

19. How do I get my site listed on search engines and directories?

Your website cannot get listed automatically by search engines and directories. There are various methods which can help your site get listed on search engines and directories. These are:
1. Submit your website to the search engines separately. Go to the search engines and/or directories, look for where you can link your site and submit your site. While submitting, make sure that you are submitting the complete URL or address of the first page in your index.
2. You can also sign up with companies that submit sites to search engines and directories. They have their own way of keeping your page rank higher in the search list.
3. There is another way in which the search engines send search spiders or robots on the internet. These programs wander the internet and index sites that are not listed. But the chances of getting listed in this way are very less.
Pont to be noted – 85% of the website traffic comes from search engine results. Therefore getting listed by search engines is very necessary.

20. How long does it take for my website to show up on search engines?

It depends on the time the search engines take to list a site. It may take 3 months or more or it can get listed within 3 weeks. The Search Engine companies can help you specifically in this regard.

21. What do meta keywords and meta description refer to? How do I insert them into my website?

Meta keywords and meta description refers to Meta tags, which are special HTML tags that provide information about a web page to Search Engine spiders. These tags are placed after the title tag and improve your search engine ranking.

Meta description tags contain a brief and concise summary of your page’s content. This description is used by search engines to find you and place you in the search results and search directories. Browsers can see part of this description right under the Site Name when the search results appear on the screen.

Meta Keyword tags are added right after the Meta description tag in your HTML page. These tags basically contain relevant keywords, separated by coma.

Unfortunately, right now, we don’t provide pages to insert meta tags.

Backup System and Uptime

23. How do I backup my website?

You don’t need to backup your site because our server does that regularly. If you still want to backup your site you can use any “Offline Browser”. The offline browser will copy your website to the hard drive of your computer.

You can find offline browsers at www.download.com or www.httrack.com

You can also save the pages of your site separately. To do that – click on File and then click on Save As.

24. Sometimes my pages timeout or expire. What is happening?

There may be various reasons behind page timeout or expired. If your website doesn’t respond within the time set by your web browser e.g. Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator etc.), you may get the message that page is expired or timeout. Another cause of timeout and expired pages is slow internet connection between your computer and our server. This is generally caused by your ISP (Internet service Provider), the company that provides your internet connection.

If the ISP is being used by too many people at the same time, this problem occurs. But there is no problem from our server because we are able to handle more connection bandwidth than we need.

To solve your problem, you can do any of the following:
1. Copy and paste your page in a word processor like Microsoft Word or Notepad and then save it. To copy –
? Select the text
? Press Ctrl+C
? Go to the word processor
? Press Ctrl+V
? Your text will be pasted
? Now you can save it
2. You can save your text frequently to lose less work. But copy and paste process is more convenient.
3. or you can write the text and save it in your word processor. Later you copy from the word processor and paste to your page. The advantage of this technique is, you can always have a local copy of your text.
